Fisherman’s house on the port
Three floors of pale stone on Gallipoli’s old port, where fishing boats arrive below the kitchen window and the roof catches the last light over the Ionian.

The property
A closer look
The house is narrow in the way old harbour houses often are. A bedroom occupies each level, joined by a stone stair, with the kitchen and sitting room at the top to make the most of the view.
The roof terrace is the reason to stay: an unbroken horizon, a built-in bench and a table for six. The fish market is downstairs, the beach is around the walls, and a car is more burden than help.

A sense of Gallipoli
Gallipoli’s island-like old town is busiest in August and lovely on either side of it. The port wakes early; the western walls own the sunset.
